THE PROBLEM

Gil's Broiler is the oldest restaurant in San Marcos. It's been in business since 1949, and their Manskie Rolls have become locally famous. Their branding on the other hand, hasn't aged as well. Gil's needed an update that would tie together their retro beginnings with a modern twist.

THE SOLUTION

Rebrand Gil's to create a more cohesive system that appeals to the students who frequent it. Because this demographic makes up the majority of customers, the brand needs to look clean and fresh while still maintaining the old fashioned diner era theme.

PROCESS

TRADEMARK

The faded lettering and neon marque on the building façade gives Gil's its authentic appeal. Using elements from this time-tested signage, a more contemporary version was, a more contemporary version was created. Hand lettering for the logo was then carried over to the price points on the menu.
